Holton Heath 31st May 2008
The first lot of major works happened between Hamworthy and Holton Heath stations. Mainly relaying of old jointed track on the down Waterloo - Weymouth mainline. Due to the nature of the privately owned land surrounding the work site access was not for the general public, so from 23:30 Friday night - 04:30 Saturday morning the bottom of platform 1 at Poole was my residence. Video will be appearing here shortly as well as available on DVD to purchase. Price includes Postage & packing and cost of material ONLY.
The photos were taken using my Canon EOS 400D using my EFS 18-55mm lens and set on Shutter Priority mode (AE but marked as TV on the camera) using a tripod as well. The exposure was set at 8 seconds at 200 ISO and on a 10 second delay remote trigger. All the photos were taken in RAW format and edited with Digital Photo Professional (Canons own software) where the colour temperature was adjusted as well as brightness, EV and sharpness levels. The photos were then re sized re sharpened and copyright protected using Paint Shop Pro photo XI (I cant afford Photoshop!!!!).

Balfour Beatty liveried Tamper/Line DR73276 sits on the down line at Poole awaiting permissions to enter the possession. This was already in the station before I arrived.

66006 stands at platform 2 having just arrived from Eastleigh with the fist train into the possession with the 6N01 EH Yard - Poole this conveyed OBA/OCA's MLA,s JNA's and a YWA. The trains were not scheduled to stop very long. This arrived at 00:51 and departed at 00:59.

The first of a few MLA's that were allocated in various trains through out the night. MLA 503098 at the end of off the 6N01 and coupled to JNA 29504.

66199 brings in the 6N02 at 01:40am. Unfortunately it was kind of getting a tad cold and the camera was still kind of warm from being in my bag so unknown to me at the time condensation had set in on the filter that was protecting the lens. SO yes I am human and a cocked up photo for the world to see :). This trains consist was OCA/OBA's, JNA's / MLA's , YLA & YQA's.

YQA 967567 with brand new concrete sleepers on the rear of the 6N02.

With the driver out the cab on his way back from the phone (to the right of the pic) I only had a short amount of time to get a shot of 66085 on the 6N03 from Eastleigh. This consisted of MLA's, JNA's and KWA's.

The time is 2:36 am. The mist is starting to roll in and the temperature is taking a turn for the worse. Thank god I have my Blue Fleece on as the driver of 66200 with the 6N04 phones the signalman for instructions.

66060 with the 6N05 and the mist is starting to get a tad heavy. The wagons are all empty JNA's.

A zoomed in shot of 66101 awaiting to enter the possession with the 6N06. Again the wagons in this consist were all JNA's. The time is around 03:15am.

PO44 & PO47's red lights project outwards in the thick mist.

The final train of the night the 6N06 comprised of 66112 at the front and 66166 at the rear. The wagons comprised of KWA's OBA/OCA's and YMA/YFA's. The mist had come down really thick since 66101 left at 03:23 and now at 4:02 in the morning as well as the mist starting to lift to my suprise its also coming up to dawn!!

Two shots of 66166 on the rear of the 6N07.
The film of the 7 trains had to be split into 3 parts.
