Welcome to Page 1 of the Poole Gallery from Jan - June 2005. All Previous photos prior to May are on Page 2

Still going after the supposed contract was up. The LPG gas train empties are in charge of 66101. Rumours abound about whether the service will actually end up staying or indeed be transferred to road.

Barely a week has gone past since Tangmere graced Poole with her presence, Now some old friends appear. 47832 on the 1Z47 06.45 Lincoln - Poole, arrives on time (shock horror) on June 25th.

The consist comprised of Ex Virgin MK2 Air Con stock. The Livery was the old First Great Western livery, but the locomotive is now owned by FMRail ( Fragonset / Merlin).

To save money on having a shunter (either paying one for overtime or hiring in one from Southwest trains) utilized to run the 47 round the consist, 47703 Hermes was attached on the rear of the train.

Another shot of 47703 and the rest of the train pulling into the reception sidings where the coaches will get "tanked" ( basicly topped up with water). This left later on in the afternoon.

Date:- 18th June 2005, Time:- 08:12 AM, Place:- Baiter Park Poole, Reason:- To photograph 34067 Tangmere on the 1:90 climb to Parkstone whilst on the Royal Wessex tour from Weymouth - Victoria.

A very clear morning bought at least 12 other people out to the location where I was. Apparently both Poole & Parkstone stations were packed with photographers and camera persons.

67022 was at the rear as the support engine.

A few hours later I was back down Poole at the station this time to photograph the Southwest Trains Seaside Slammer tour (the public one). Unfortunately this was running somewhat late. But I managed to snap a rather shiny Class 444 on the Brockenhurst - Wareham runs. Here 444045 waits to depart.

8 minutes down after running into problems on the coast line between Havent & St Denys 3417 pulls into platform 2 for an impromptu photo stop, about 90 seconds compared to the planned 8 minutes!!!!

1497 on the rear of the Seaside slammer tour.

66105 on the 6V29 Furzebrook - Hallen Marsh LPG train approaches the pedestrian bridge at Sterte (Poole) on the 15th June 2005.

Saturday June the 11th saw Southwest Trains run a staff only Seaside Slammer Railtour from Waterloo to Weymouth via Guilford Havant & Fareham. Blue 4-VEP 3417 Gordon Pettit & Green 3-CIG 1498 Farringford rounds the curve at the old Holes Bay junction approaching Holes Bay Causeway with the 1Z81 to Weymouth leg.

The 18th of June will see Gordon the Blue VEP run with either the Green 3-CIG or Blue/Grey 3-CIG on the public's tour to Weymouth. As at least one CIG still has to do the Lymington run all day.

1498 Farringford runs past the back of Poole Speedway / Greyhound stadium with the return leg of the Seaside Slammer as the 1Z82 Weymouth - Waterloo service.

This is the first time that a 3 car unit has worked past Branksome for quite a long time from what I remember.

With a few passenger's showing off their recently acquired "seaside" presents from their visit to Weymouth, "Gordon the Blue VEP" 3417 sits at Poole awaiting the all clear. A well done to Southwest Trains for the farewell tours. Although either the Lymington Flyer headboard or a "Seaside Slammer" headboard" would have been appropriate.

66143 rounds the curve at Poole On June 10th with what was thought to be the last 6V29 Furzebrook - Avonmouth LPG train. This now appears to be some confusion of when the last one will run.

It is now thought that Week commencing 12/06/05 there are 3 trains planned and then week commencing 19/06/05 there will be 2 planned. With the 2nd one of that week being the official final train. Apparently BP are having problems trying to load their new lorries..... OH Dear!!

The final pig made 2424 pulls out of the carriage sidings at Poole with an ecs to Bournemouth.

Saturday June 4th sees 31454 + 31128 round the curve at Poole on a revised Cathedrals Express. This was due to operational diffulculties with the steam locomotive.

The reason was unclear why 6024 failed to return to Weymouth but the train left as 1Z97 19.20 Weymouth - Victoria although it ended up going only as far as Guilford (no idea why).

This for me was the first time in daylight for a good 20+ years from seeing a Class 31 at Poole. The last time for me was 31111 on a Nuclear Flask train to Winfrith back in the early 80's.

66177 on the 6V29 Furzebrook - Avonmouth LPG train hurries towards the Curved station of Poole on the evening of May 27. This service looks as though it will end around the 13th of June 2005, Get your pics while you can.

221140 Pulls in to the reception sidings at Poole with an ECS working from Bournemouth.

73107 sits at the buffer stop with 2401 in Poole's old goods yard. This will stay for a few hours whilst space is made at Bournemouth for the failed unit.

It seems as though the Class 442's are starting to fail en mass. The reason why this one had failed was a broken camshaft.

Friday 13th May saw 66192 leave Poole with the Hamworthy - Cardiff tidal Scrap train.

Wednesday May 11th and Still in Balfour Beaty livery Tamper DR73276 is parked in Poole yard. This had been parked up since the preceeding Sunday and was still there on the 13th of May.

Parked in front of the tamper was another Balfour Beatty tamper / Liner DR73927.

The aim of the night was to get some pics of the Furzebrook - Hallen Marsh (Avonmouth) LPG train. On the 11th 66085 was in charge of it. This service is now due to end by June 13th.

Sunday May 5th saw Poole out berthing 5 sets of Class 442 Wessex Elctrics due to a Derailment of Class 444 039 at Bournemouth Depot. 2407 Sits in the yard's electrified siding.

73235 arrives at Branksome for a spot of shunting at Bournemouth due to power to the live rail being switched off due to the derailment of 444039 on Saturday afternoon.

The crew in the ED prepare to change cab ends for the run into the depot.

Before they leave they have to raise the collector shoes and change over to diesel power as the electric is off in the depot.
