Swanage Beerfest May 9th 2009
Welcome to the a special Gallery showing off my first ever Swanage Beerfest & Diesel Gala that took place over the 2nd weekend in May. Unfortunately the day did not start too well for getting to Swanage. The train I was waiting for was delayed to some selfish person deciding to end their miserable life at Swaythling thus delaying train services to and from Southampton. The reason there has been such a delay in putting these up is because I also visited Eastleigh 100 Open Day as well as having other rail related things to photograph as well. Again as with most of the new galleries going up from May 2009 this page is best viewed at a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024.

First up we have Deltic #22 Royal Scots Grey about to attach to the front of this train thats bound for Swanage. My first pissed off moment of the day (I had only been here 10 minutes) happened about a minute before I took this shot. The guy to the left whose elbow you can see in my shot (its the best one of it I could get) decided to come and stand right in front of me as I was taking my shot of the Deltic beginning to reverse onto the train. A quick few sharp F words (and one with an s in it as well) and he begrudgingly got out the way only for his elbow to creep back in the shot.... Thanks alot you Dumb ass!!!
I know I could edit it out but I thought I would leave it in here to show what sort of idiots we have to put up with in our hobby.

Another special guest at Swanage was 45060 Sherwood Forester. This was stabled in the loop at Norden after coming off the front of the train that 55022 joined on from the previous photograph.

One of the old pushers from the Weymouth - Bournemouth line of the 80's 33111 prepares to haul the shuttle service from Norden with 31108 on the rear. Listening to the pusher (33111) pulling away reminded me of the days of them on the rear of the 4TC sets pushing from Poole up Parkstone Bank. Ahhh memories!!! Rather odd this but 33111 only had Number, double arrows and Data viynls on one side only.

After around 30 minutes at Norden I decided to make my way to Corfe Castle for some shots. With the famous view of Corfe Castle in the background Mc Crompton 26007 is on the rear of a service bound for Norden. This failed on the Friday night but was back up and running on the Saturday & Sunday.

Again the famous view of Corfe Castle from Corfe Station.

The 2nd man passes the single line token to the station chap as 31108 prepares to stop at Corfe with a well known You Tube A list star onboard!!

Proudly posing for the Hentis Rail cameras Zontar from Powerunit406 fame manages a wry smile even though hes forgot to take the stubbie out of his gob!!!

Zontar gets the right away signal and prepares to leave for Norden!!!!

45060 Sherwood Forester enters Corfe bound for Swanage.

Railfreight Grey 31108 enters the double track section of Corfe Castle station.

Another shot of the station chap preparing to accept the single line Harmans Cross to Corfe token from the second man of 33108.

33103 on the rear of 33111's train heading for Norden.

55022 RSG slides into the platform at Corfe.

Ok tried for the arty shot here and dont think it worked. 26007 passes 33111 as it comes off the single line form Norden. the reason why I chose to this photo as the page header was the planned shot off the rather large hill on the right didnt come off as I did not even try to venture up it... I am not built for 4 x 4 all terrain country thus this shot had to suffice.... maybe next year!!! YEAH RIGHT!!!

Another shot of 26007 sliding into Corfe.

The Mc Crompton and 33103 next to each other at the Swanage end of Corfe.

Arty shot to round off this page of the Swanage Beer & Diesel Gala. 20107 at Corfe Castle on the rear of a service to Norden in Black & White.
