Thursday December 31st 2009 - Happy New Year

Whilst out getting a few stock shots for the website and supplies for later on in the day I captured this shot for the last photo of the Poole Gallery for the year. Here 444032 stand at platform 1 with the 10:40 (ex 10:03 Weymouth) Poole - Waterloo service while 444026 stand at platform 2 with the 10:38 (ex 08;35 Waterloo) Poole - Weymouth service. Trains are operating only between Weymouth & Southampton Central due to the Tunnel at Southampton being closed over the christmas period.

Saturday November 28th 2009 - Steamy & Cold November Morning part II

Whilst waiting for Tangmere to arrive at Poole, I was caught out by DR98927 & DR98977 passing through with the 3S85 (also known as 3Squirt85) Eastleigh - Eastleigh via Wareham Railhead Treatment Train (RHTT).

It was only a few days before I was thinking of trying to get at least one shot of an MPV on this working for this year. kinda lucky I guess. The MPV is seen spraying as it passes through Poole.

Two days later and Tangmere was back at Poole but this time awaiting to depart with the 1Z82 Swanage - London Waterloo "The Christmas Capital Express" charter rounding off 2009 as a rather successful year for charter trains passing or originating at Poole.

Okay How many of us can stop a 91 ton* Steam loco and 11 coaches on the mark? Successful applicants could end up driving one of these. (including 5 ton coal capacity!!).

Whilst also filming the arrival and subsequent departure of the charter I managed to get a few shots off of Tangmere being nearly engulfed by its own steam as it departs Poole. Its turned out as a nice arty shot.

The video of the combined tours over the two days.

West Country "Battle of Britain" class 4-6-2 34067 Tangmere Awaits its 08:30 departure from Poole in charge of the 1Z34 Poole - Bristol "Bristol & Bath Express".

34067 sits at the starter at Poole awaiting the all clear to depart.

Saturday October 24th 2009 - Soggy Saturday Slam Door ECS

The beginning of October Southwest Trains started a series of tests on 450103 in relations to its Regenerative Brake program (similar to KERS on F1 cars). These tests lasted for about 3 weeks. With 73235 taking the two Lymington Branch 3 Cig's down to Jersey Sidings in Weymouth on October 5th to receive generated power from the tests. After the tests were done the units were bought back to Bournemouth T&RSMD. Here on that chosen day that the units and 73 were to come back, 450098 is awaiting the road with the 07:50 Poole - London Waterloo in poor light and torrential rain. This set of photos were all taken at 1600 iso as it was that dark. Some of the shots have turned out ok others are a tad on the blurry side but I cant do anything about that.

Running a little down 73235 1497 & 1498 sodden a sodden platform 1 at Poole with the 5Z84 Weymouth JS - Bournemouth T&RSMD ecs move. Kudo's to the driver for giving plenty of Horn.

Strangely enough 73235 was running on diesel and not form the juice rail. I am not entirely sure why but it would be good to know why. Its good seeing Blue & Grey on the mainline again. Would be nice to see a 450 or 444 in Blue Grey livery..... any comment SWT?
