Saturday June 6th 2009 - The Bath & Bristol Express II

70013 "Oliver Cromwell" storms Parkstone Bank for the 2nd week in a row with the 1Z82 Poole to Bristol steam excursion. The weather turned foul when 70013 was due to return to Poole so I didnt take my Canon down although I took the video camera. I did manage to get some still shots although they were with camera on my Sony Ericsson phone. Unfortunately the phone broke about a week ago with the pictures still on the phone so I lost them as I had a brand new replacement phone. Oh well, it will teach me to bluetooth it over to the PC next time wont it.

47760 bought the ecs down from Eastleigh in the morning and during a trip down to Poole I managed to get a shot of it stabled in the yard. This will take the ecs back to Eastleigh in the evening. It did this in the midst of the beginning of a very early engineering possesion at Poole so with the trains arrival of the tour back at Poole, that I have on video I also have several engineering trains and the ecs return to Eastleigh to go up on You Tube.... Now how do I do it? thats the question I ask myself. Needless to say the videos from Swanage, possibly Eastleigh , the Railtours and engineering works will be up at some point as well.

Saturday May 30th 2009 - The Bath & Bristol Express I

West coast Railways 47245 runs into Poole with the 5Z81 05:45 Eastleigh T&RSMD - Poole ecs move.

The ecs from Eastleigh was around 15 minutes early although I was running late I managed to get some shots of the Steam Loco & tender, doesn't help when I take the wrong lens with me either. The loco entire train stayed in the platform for a good 15 minutes before being given permission to enter the carriage sidings.

70013 "Oliver Cromwell" passes 444002.

Oliver Cromwell glides into platform 1 where it will take out the 1Z82 08:30 Poole - Bristol service.

The headboard is fitted to the front of 70013.

Oliver Cromwell nameplate.

Asleep in the yard was Balfour Beatty tamping machine DR73276. This is a regular visitor to Poole.

Taken from atop the footbridge at Poole, as the tamping machine was in the way, 47245 is stabled in the yard at Poole. This will take the tour back to Eastleigh upon its return from Bristol.

Saturday May 23rd 2009 - Two tractors a spoon and a kettle!!!

With the second lot of class 37's to pass through Poole in just over 24 hours 37602 & 37069 pass Desiro 450036 with the 1Z44 Crewe - Weymouth "The Wessexman" tour.

West coast Railway Company owned and liveried 47 47760 passes through platform 1 at Poole to gain access to the old goods yard where it will wait for Oliver Cromwell to terminate.

EWS Clad Dorset Ned hangs over the wall at Poole whilst waiting in between tours

A "lay down on the platform and look silly" shot of 4-6-2 Britannia Class # 70013 Oliver Cromwell after its arrival at Poole with the 1Z70 Norwich - Poole with "The East Anglian" tour.

Cromwell prepares to take its train into the carriage sidings. The steam loco went onto Swanage for the week as the 47 took the train back a few hours later.

A right pair of unlikely lads walk down the platform. Nick on the left with Jules on the right!!

47760 draws into platform 1 at Poole with the return East Anglian tour to Norwich.

Doing its bit for the environment 47760 clags away from Poole with the return 1Z71 Poole – Norwich tour.

37069 passes through platform 1 at Poole with the return Weymouth - Crewe Wessexman tour. It was a particularly bad day for either getting bowled or partly being bowled by other trains arriving or departing at Poole.

Friday May 22nd 2009 - Full Steam Ahead!!

37706 runs light to Swanage to pick up SR 4-6-2 "Battle of Britain" Class 34070 Manston, SR 4-6-2 "West Country" Class 34028 Eddystone & LSWR 0-4-4T Class M7 30053 as part of the Eastleigh 100 Exhibit. The train ran as the 0Z47 Eastleigh RC – Worgret Junction. This was taken with my Sony Cybershot DSC P-150 camera as I was down town on business more than pleasure in the morning.

After sitting in Poole yard for about an hour DR999700 + DR999701 pass two Network Rail personnel with the return working of 1Q88 Willsden TNC – Waterloo via Poole test train.

Later in the afternoon 37706 brings back 34070 Manston, 34028 Eddystone & 30053 and rather surprisingly a Queen Mary brakevan nestled between 30053 and the support coach. This ran as the 5Z47 Worgret Junction – Eastleigh RC.

A shot that really never worked. The Steam convoy in Black & White.

I only took my 300mm lens with me as I am quite crap and slow at lens changes so I only managed to get this shot of the Queen Mary Brakevan. It was the first time for quite a few years that I have seen a brakevan work through Poole in a trains consist.
