Friday December 12th saw what I think is a first for our neck of the woods. Based on the successful Class 150 "Sprinter" design Class 950 950001 a Network Rail Track assessment unit runs wrong line from the Station to the trailing crossover at Sterte as it begins the return to Westbury forming the 2Z08. This unit had gone to Bournemouth and Hammoworthy Quay already.
Saturday November 29th 2008 - The Christmas Cracker!!

On a cold early, dark, damp & foggy November morning 37676 Loch Rannoch & 37248 Loch Arkaig wait at the head of the 1Z48 05:54 Poole - Blackpool North Christmas Cracker railtour by Spitfire Tours.

37676 & 37248 nose to nose.

The lesser spotted Hentis with a stationary flail onboard "Coach C". I had to hold that pose for 8 seconds. Due to the cold weather I failed and thats why its kinda blurry. To see these pics plus more from the Christmas Cracker tour then please click
Wednesday November 5th 2008 - Sandi Desiros

450002 Weymouth bound pulls in alongside 444031 which is on a service to London Waterloo.

Come Rail Head Treatment Train (RHTT) Season or Sandite duties for short we seem to luck out round the Southwest Trains area. Whilst other regions (not all of them) get Vintage or indeed new Locos on RHTT Trains round our neck of the woods we get Windhoff MPV's. Here 98927 with 98977 behind are seen pulling into Platform 1 with the return 3S85 Eastleigh RC - Eastleigh RC RHTT working. This MPV is booked to run only as far as Wareham and then onto Woking and then back to Eastleigh. Covering a total of 257 miles in 10 hours.

Not a very good shot as the MPV was still moving but shortly after I took this shot they shut the jet off.

Bringing up the rear was DR98977. This ran down to Wareham passing Poole @ 09:09 and returning @ 09:54
Tuesday October 14th 2008 - Serco Tractors

Fitting rather nicely above 37059 is the 136 year old High Street Level crossing footbridge. That had to be hired in the late 80's to conform to the load height of the new fleet of Class 442 units. Strange that this bridge has even out lasted the 442's on this route.

37059 with 37038 (on the front out of shot) pass through Poole with 1Q14 Serco test train from Derby to Bournemouth T&RSMD via Weymouth.
Friday October 3rd 2008 - Skipped VSOE

67001 arrives at Poole with the 1Z93 Victoria - Bournemouth & Poole VSOE special.

To enable 67002 on the rear to pull up by the starting signal at the other end of platform 1, 67001 had to pull up past the down signal. For this to happen the signalman had to set the road for the reception sidings.

The cast builders plate from one of the Pullman cars.

67002 Special Delivery sits at the top end of platform 1 at Poole whilst awaiting the driver to occupy the cab for the run into Bournemouth Station.

The traditional coupling between the 67 and Pullman coach is in evidence here.

A rather bemused couple look on at the photographer as he takes a photo of the Lucille name on strangely enough coach Lucille!!

The Pullman coat of Arms on Lucille.

In less than 10 minutes of arriving 67002 powers out of Poole with 67001 bringing up the rear.

Balfour Beatty's DR77336 (a Plasser & Theurer USP 5000C Ballast Regulator) sits unattended in Poole Yard.
