Poole Gallery January - June 2007

Welcome to The Poole Gallery for 2007 after a rather successful year for 2006 hopefully the first half of 2007 will be even better. What to expect. Well the Serco train is visiting. We finally say good bye to the 442's and hello to the Desiro's as the new flagship of the Bournemouth Mainline. Hopefully engineering works and railtour's will be plentiful. So bring on 2007.

January 13th 2007 - 442 Farewell, kind of....

2407 Thomas Hardy pulls into platform 2 with the 1W31 11:35 Waterloo - Weymouth. There were a few enthusiasts at Poole that wanted to get the last daylight run of a pig to Weymouth. Except it wasn't.... it was supposed to be but plans had changed somewhat!! Already before 2407 had graced us 2410 was working the Wareham - Brockenhurst stopper.

450100 rolls into platform 1 with the 13:59 Wareham - Brockenhurst.

A pair of seagull's look on bemused as they oversee the afternoons proceedings!!

With an R on the gantry informing the driver his next stop is the reception sidings 2405 City of Portsmouth draws out of platform 1 after arriving with the 12:05 Waterloo - Poole.

Two shots that will probably not be seen again. 2405 City of Portsmouth on the right waits to leave with the 15:01 Poole - Waterloo, whilst de-named 2410 has just arrived with the 14:16 Brockenhurst - Wareham stopper.

2412 Special Olympics runs into platform 1 to terminate with the 13:05 Waterloo - Poole.

Old and new together. 444045 on the 13:35 Waterloo - Weymouth service rests next to 2407 (carrying the My Lordz 442 on tour team) on the 1W56 15:00 Weymouth - Waterloo. incidently this should have been the only daylight working for a pig from Weymouth to Waterloo.

2412 Special Olympics waits to depart with the 16:01 Poole - Waterloo.

2410 arrives at Poole with the 15:59 Wareham to Brockenhurst.

January 12th 2007 - Invasion of the Desiro's prt IX
& Goodbye to the Wessie's prt 2

Still in dark and crap weather 2420 City of Southampton draws into platform 1 at Poole with the 2B28 07.20 Poole - Waterloo service.

Showing more damage to the cab pillar by the windscreen wipers 444030 at the rear of the 07:54 service to Waterloo with 444027 in front.

66053 with 450126 on the penultimate 7X53 Eastleigh Yard - Bournemouth T&RSMD 450 delivery. The 66 was stopping due to 2411 approaching with a Weymouth - Waterloo stopper.

2411 The Railway Children approaches with the 07:25 Weymouth - Waterloo.

450126 is hauled into the carriage sidings by 66053. Shortly after this shot was taken a cleaned up and graffiti free 450125 drew into platform 2 whilst on a commissioning run to Weymouth, Wareham and Southampton. More pics of the wessex Electrics will appear on this site SOON tm Also you might be interested to look at www.47.soton.co.uk for more pics of the Wessex Electric's (old and new).

January 10th 2007 - GB Rail drop

The first GB Shed of the year to visit Poole. 66707 Sir Sam Fay, Great Central Railway arrives at Poole some 40 minutes down with the 6G16 21:46 Eastleigh - Beaulieu Road Raildrop. This had to come to Poole to run round so the train had access to the up line where the rails were going to be dropped. The train was late due to a bridge being hit between Brockenhurst and Christchurch.

January 09th 2007 - Invasion of the Desiro's prt VIII,
Well Invasion of the Graffiti'd Desiro that is!!

On a cold, dark, Wet and Windy Tuesday morning 66248 brings in the first for 2007's last few remaining new Desiro's for delivery to Bournemouth.

450125, vandalised by some anal retentive teenager that probably does not know how to shave yet that thinks its fun to spray his tag any where... awaits to be towed to Bournemouth Depot and a clean up.

The other end of 450125, this side was far worse than the other side of the train with all the the coaches sprayed. The other side had about 2 of the coaches sprayed.

January 07th 2007 - Goodbye to the Wessie's prt I

In the final week of operation on the Southwest Mainline 2411 arrives at Poole some 8 minutes down with the 1W19 08:35 Waterloo - Weymouth service. The announcement about the train being late went something like this -: "The 10:57 Waterloo to Weymouth service is 7 minutes late due to the late arrival of a preceding train at Clapham , North Yorkshire"!!

I have waited for over a good 6 months for this to be looked at but as usual every time I visit its still in the same ropey disintergrating condition. So hopefully a bit of exposure on the website might provoke Network Rail into pulling their fingers out of there arse and getting something done about it. This sleeper from my point of view looks in a very bad way. It seems as though it has snapped. The chair that the up mainline sits on has indeed shifted. There are new sleepers in the yard laying around. Still it only takes one train to spread the rails.

2408 County of Dorset gets the green light to get underway with the 1W40 10:48 (11:32 Poole) Weymouth - Waterloo.

January 1st 2007 - I See you!!

2421 is now hidden away in the shed at Bournemouth out of public view.
