Poole Gallery July - December 2006 (continued)
September 14th 2006 - Invasion of the Desiro's prt III
66034 brings in SWT Desiro 450117 on the 7X53 Eastleigh Yard - Bournemouth T&RSMD Desiro delivery.
Another shot of 450117 stabled between 5 VGA/VKA vans this end and 4 VGA/VKA vans the furthest end. The weather and light was rubbish. It was pouring with rain so the quality of the photos have suffered. But I love Digital :).
The EWS shunter dive's between 66034 and VGA 210418 to uncouple.
After a quick word with the signalman the driver jumps back into the cab to finish the run round.
66034 passes 450117. Seven down ten more to go.
September 12th 2006 - Stoned Tug!!
444025 pulls into a crowded platform 1 on a Wareham to Brockenhurst stopper whilst 450071 prepares to leave platform 2 on a Brockenhurst - Wareham stopper.
Un-refurbished class 442 2422 Operation Overlord arrives at Poole on a Weymouth - Waterloo service.
Long time no see. The last time a tug visited Poole was November 16th 2005 when 60013 worked this service (thanks to RS for that info). 60020 clag's well out of the carriage sidings at Poole after its just restarted the return leg of the Hamworthy - Whatley Quarry stone empties.
Another shot of 60020.
Finally 60020 starts to accelerate as it receives the "off up" indication signalling to the driver he has a green light. Whose that weird person in the shorts at the top end of platform 2?
September 02nd 2006 - Somerset & Dorset Remembered
Battle of Britain 4-6-2 34067 "Tangmer"e bursts into the short straight from underneath Sterte Road Bridge running Kingfisher Tours "Somerset & Dorset" remembered charter from Wareham - Bristol. On the rear is EWS 67 67006 "Royal Sovereign".
It was 06:35 in the morning, grey and very damp looking as Tangmere slows for the stop at Poole.
34067 Tangmere was removed from the return leg at Salisbury. A planned move for reasons I would be interested to know why? 67006 Royal Sovereign stops at Poole to allow passengers to alight. The next and final stop for this was Wareham although the train will work to Weymouth as an ECS so the loco can run round and head back to Eastleigh.
August 30th 2006 - Invasion of the Desiro's prt II
66075 tows a rake of VGA/VKA's + 2 FIA ex intermodal barrier wagons and 450116 into the carriage sidings at Poole with the 7X53 Eastleigh Yard to Bournemouth T&RSMD Desiro move.
The driver of 2401 sounds the horn as it passes 66075 and the shunter as he approaches the point lever to change the points. Note 2401 has the jumper hatch covers now fitted.
66075 clags slightly as it moves across the points and runs round the consist of 7X53.
August 24th 2006 - Invasion of the Desiro's prt I
2402+2401 in the CS at Poole before they depart for a semi fast service to Waterloo. 2401 is another pig that has lost all of its cable covers, its unclear whether these have been lost or removed by SWT fitters. You can see the livery variances around the cab fronts.
66041 brings 450115 into the #1 CS at Poole with the 7X53.
450115 nestled between the barrier wagons.
66041 crosses the points onto CS #2 for the final part of the run round. It was at this point I heard the familiar sound of a Desiro and thought there's not one due through at this time!!!
It was 450113 (delivered 09th August) + 450114 (delivered 22nd August) on an 8 car test train passing newly arrived 450115!!
450113+450114 on the test train to Weymouth. this passed me at a slow speed of 15mph!!!
August 23rd 2006 - False Alarm!!
2421 on the 07:40? Weymouth - Waterloo. I was down here to get yet another Desiro delivery. Unfortunately I was 1 day premature!!!!
August 22nd 2006 - Pigs, Sheds and Desiro's
2424 "Gerry Newson" pulls out of Poole Carriage Sidings (CS) for on an early morning Poole - Waterloo rush hour train. Note the red marker lights are on as well as the front beams.
66064 drags 450114 on the 7X53 Eastleigh - Bournemouth T&RSMD Desiro Delivery.
VKA 210580 on the rear of the consist. This and the 5 other VGA/VKA's and the two other barrier wagons will once again come to Poole CS so the loco can run round on its return leg to Eastleigh Yard. These will then form the Eastleigh - Wembley Enterprise and in turn the 2 ex intermodal wagons (barrier wagons) will then be forwarded via the channel tunnel back to Frethurn in the Wembley - Dollands Moor enterprise service.
450114 Poole CS. 66064 is about to reverse back onto the consist (top right of the picture).
August 18th 2006 - Fredded Pigs!!!
66518 drags 2408 "County of Dorset" under the signaling gantry and into the carriage sidings for run round.
After climbing down from the loco the shunter walks alongside the loco as it backs onto 2408 (out of shot in the siding).
The late evening sun reflects off the fresh paint work of 2408 as 66518 joins the mainline to Bournemouth T&RSMD.
It looked as though one of the hoses was not fitted correctly between the shed and the pig as air was hissing rather noisily from one of the hoses as it passed me and a couple other interested parties who had turned up taking video/pictures.
2408 heads towards Bournemouth T&RSMD.
August 17th 2006 - Pigs n' Sand
2411 "The Railway Children" + 2409 "Bournemouth Orchestra's" depart the carriage sidings at Poole forming a service to Waterloo. Note the Pigeon mid flight to the top right of the unit.
The main light on 450075 shines directly at me as it passes the signal box at Poole on Wareham - Southampton Central service.
Two shots of refurbished pig 2406 "Victory" with no Cable covers at either end. Its not sure why these have "disappeared" but the pigs do look ugly with out them.
66550 passes Poole with the Neasdon - Wool Sand empties.
Another shot of 66550 on the sand empties about to pass an unidentified pig. Along with 66550, 66566 are the 2 most used locomotive's on the sand run.
August 16th 2006 - The Duke!

2407 "Thomas Hardy" arrives at Poole with a service for Weymouth.

A black and white shot of 71000 Duke of Gloucester as it draws into platform 1 at Poole with the final Sunny South Special return leg to Clapham Junction of 2006. 31128 was on the rear. It was one of the better photos out of the 4 I took of the Duke. It was starting to rain and it was getting darker as well so not a very good set of photos.

Finally a shot of 2423 "County of Surrey" as it arrives at Poole on a Waterloo to Poole service. The photo was taken from street level at the public entrance/exit to platform 2.
