London 26th January 2008
Welcome to the first trip out of 2008. Having not been to London since November 2006 I thought it high time I went. I visited to St Pancras International, The Cross and Euston, Charing and around Waterloo as well as Harrow & Wealdstone. I had planned to go to Paddington, Old Oak Common and Liverpool Street but for other reasons could not make it. All these photos were shot using my Canon EOS 400D with the EFS 18-55mm & EF 55-200mm lenses.

The impressive Barlow Shed Roof restored and letting in the sun at St Pancras. This has changed so much since I was last there some 4-5 years ago.

The massive bronze sculpture of a couple in an embrace meeting under the St Pancras clock. This serves as a focal point to visitors to St Pancras. "Meet you by the Clock @ St Pancras at 16:30" could be heard many a time in the old BR days.

Another bronze statue at St Pancras International is of the poet laureate Sir John Betjeman. Wonder what he would of thought of seeing a clean roof to look at the bustling London Skyline.

Contrasting liveries here. First's liveried 319435 and Southern's 319005 wait to form a service to Bedford (I believe).

Class 222 Meridian 222006 draws into the domestic platforms at St Pancras International.

Competition Time Where am I?

43082 at the head of an unknown service.

One of my Kop's for the day was 43050 which was on the rear of 43082's train.

3209 & 3210 draw into St Pancras international's Euro platforms with the 10:38 arrival from Paris

Southern Liveried 319003 and Thames link Liveried 319454 arrive at St Pancras.

3210 (foreground) and 3206 add to the clutter and staleness of the new St Pancras international station. My verdict, under the magnificent Barlow trainshed roof it looks spectacular but out under the Modern roof it just looks stale and cluttered. What they should have done is sought permission to extend the old roof to where the new one ends now, just my opinion though.

Two contrasting views here. One of the Clock in focus and the statue of Sir John Betjeman out of focus in the foreground whilst (supposedly) looking up at the time.

Secondly Sir John Betjeman in focus as the clock he is looking at is out of focus to the photographer.

We now move to North London to Harrow & Wealdstone. Here an unidentified Virgin Pendolino tries to sneak past unnoticed.

Another shot of the unknown Pendolino. This time from the rear, showing where the coupling is hidden under the cowling.

321415 is captured through one of the triangles from the OHLE support at Harrow as it speeds through to Euston.

EWS shed 66185 speeds light engine through Harrow presumably to Wembley. But when I went past about an hour later I could not see it there.

66591 speeds past with an unidentified intermodal service.

66725 Sunderland hurtle's through Harrow & Wealdstone light engine to an unidentified location

Another shot of 66725 Sunderland.

Whilst killing time for my train back home at Waterloo I decided to visit the London Eye. I managed to get some good photos of the Houses of Parliament and the Sunset behind them and other things as well as more units from and to Charing Cross. With about another 50 minutes to wait for my train I managed to get a shot of the London eye as a backdrop to 444017. Its not good as the camera was hand held and had an ISO setting of 1600.
