Eastleigh September 26th 2008
Welcome to my fourth trip out for 2008. For this trip I went to my usual haunt of Eastleigh. But I took my 300 mm lens to test out.

Network Rails newest (at the time the photo was taken) class 73 is 73141. Recently outshopped from Knights Rail Workshops. The ED is seen here coupled next to 73209 following a few test runs the during the previous few days.

66593 recently named 3MG Multimodal Gateway nears platform 1 as it prepares for a driver change.

66593's nameplate. One of the more stranger nameplate's from Freightliner but it looks cool.

Plasser & Theurer 08-4x4/4S-RT Switch & Crossing Tamper/Liner stabled on the "Back Neck Line" in the East Yard. Using the 300 mm lens you can just make out some of the loco's tucked away up the yard that my binoculars wouldn't get :)

66590 prepares to stop at Eastleigh for a driver change whilst on its way to Maritime with an intermodal service.

EWS owned 66 66187 passes through platform 1 light engine.

After dropping off some wagons in the carriage sidings 66043 runs up past platform 3.

66204 runs light from the Yard to the EWS stabling point as 67002 is held at Signal E22 opposite the yard exit entrance.

67002 Special Delivery slows for the approach to the turnoff for platform 3 with the 1Z93 Victoria - Bournemouth (via Poole) VSOE Posh ex. 67021 was on the rear.

47749 Demelza accelerates away from Platform 3 with a short trip working to Eastleigh's East Yard to pick up some RHTT wagons.

47749 leaves the spur line to join the mainline before entering the yard.

With half of its consist still leaving the yard 66007 eases onto the mainline for its short 7 mile trip to Southampton docks to unload.

66130 passes through platform 2 with the 6Y27 Quidhampton - Eastleigh. This will form part of the afternoons 6M44 Eastleigh - Wembley enterprise service. This working is due to finish in early 2009.

444035 speeds through Eastleigh with a service to Weymouth.

09019 moves North up the yard after depositing some wagons down the station end of the yard.

67021 passes through Eastleigh's platform 1 with the return poshex this time going as far as Basingstoke then on to Salisbury.

Having relocated to Campbell Road bridge a few minutes earlier, I got this snap of 450073 on its way to Southampton with a Waterloo - Poole service. I wanted to see how my 300 mm lens would do from this point. It turns out it performed really well. The shots on page two are a testament to that.
