Basingstoke & Didcot 27th June 2008
Onto the second page of my trip to Basingstoke & Didcot

Eurorail scout DR999701 & DR999700 arrive in the bay platform at Basingstoke with the 1X86 Willsden - Willsden via Waterloo, Reading, Basingstoke & return the same way. Pretty unusual to see it in platform 5.

The front side profile of DR999701. Classic quote from the automated customer information voice. "Stand away from the edge of platform 5, The approaching train is not scheduled to stop" - Hmmmm Hope it does as it will be going into the car park if it dont!!

This was the reason I held on at Basingstoke was to see the Colas 47's. By then the weather had started to close in somewhat and started to rain, quite heavily at times. Here 47749 "Demelza" & 47760 "Rebecca" tow 3 track machines and a support wagon as the 6Z47 West Ealing - Eastleigh move.

47749 "Demelza" & 47760 "Rebecca". This is the first time I have seen these loco's since their repaint and by comparing 1 or 2 of the photographs I have seen to my two here, they are not as bright as what some of the photos suggest!!

On to Didcot now and 66104 was the only loco stabled on the stabling point. This left about 30 minutes after this shot was taken.

43070 is about to draw into platform 3 at Didcot with a service from Paddington.

On the avoiding line at Didcot 180104 gives it plenty of horn as it passes with a service for Paddington.

A plaque thats affixed to all re-engined HST power cars by Brush.

MK1 Post Office Sorting Van 80345 now preserved at The Didcot Railway Center.

After it also gave plenty of horn 66505 dashes past onto the Didcot curve with the 4M61 Southampton - Trafford Park intermodal.

Producing yet another kop for me (unknown until I started doing my photos a few days later) 159101 tries to beat 66539 into the platform at Basingstoke. 66539 won.
