Eastleigh 29th December 2006

The end of the year is upon us again and the annual last trip out of the year took place this year at Eastleigh, after all I didn't want the trip to London on November 18th to be the last one of the year. Unfortunately although I can choose the day the weather was somewhat crap!! The plan was to stay there and video the Steel train passing through that was leaving Poole late on in the afternoon but due to it being really cold and abysmal weather conditions I decided to call it a day although I managed to video the steel train at Poole after a Desiro finally moved out the way. Unfortunately the photographs are not up to my usual standard.

An unidentified 8 car 450 on a Poole - Waterloo service speeds through Eastleigh.

158815 sits at platform 3 after just arriving on an ecs/driver training? run from Fareham. This returned a few minutes later.

Sat in Eastleigh's yard opposite the station were rakes and rakes of engineers wagons. Whether this was due to the Portsmouth line engineering work or because the yard had a emergency possession on it was unclear. Here YEA Long Welded Rail wagon 979107 sits coupled to a rake of YEAs.

With the first lot of repatriated 159s underway you can still see 170's on the Romsey - Totton - Romsey runs. Here 170306 prepares to Leave Eastleigh to take the Chandlers Ford line to Romsey.

66137 comes off the Chandlers Ford line with the 6Y27 Quidhampton to Eastleigh calcium carbonate tanks. Again this was due to the Yard being closed, it was routed into platform 3 and then it went round onto the Portsmouth line round the back of Eastleigh Depot and out through the stabling point a few hours later.

2 shots of 66568 on an unidentified intermodal service.

09024 seems to have recovered from its bout of being unwell a few months ago. Its seen shunting a rake of YLA wagons upto the North Yard. In the background is a rake of of YEA Welded Rail Wagons and a rake of 5 Network Rail liveried HQA Auto ballaster's.

66190 comes off the Chandlers Ford line with 59202, 59203 & 59206. This was the Westbury - Eastleigh Engineers. These locos went to the fueling point to be refuelled.

A refurbished 442 speed s past 450023 sat in platform 2.

Another unidentified 442 speeds past an intermodal service. This will be the last time I will possibly see these speeding through Eastleigh, so I took the video camera along for posterity.

450114 Fairbridge arrives at platform 3 with a service from Waterloo for Fareham.

450114's nameplate Fairbridge - Investing in the Future. The name was chosen in recognition of South West Trains’ long running support of Fairbridge, a charity which gives a head start to young people living in disadvantaged areas.

221107 Sir Martin Frobisher speeds through Eastleigh on the down fast with a service for Bournemouth.

66115 sits idling opposite the south end of platform 3. There was no one around the loco all day it was left on from before I turned up around 09:00 till well after I left around 16:10.

66035 comes from the Eastleigh's stabling point into platform 3. It will run light to Poole Docks and head a 1649 ton steel train bound for Toton.

66216 draws into platform 1 for a crew change with the 6V62 Fawley - Tavistock tanks.

Shanks liveried 66, 66522 heads into platform 2, for a crew change, with the 4O54 Leeds - Soton Maritime Freightliner service.66522 left DIT behind 66502 a few hours later in the 4E76 18.59 Soton MT - Leeds.
