Eastleigh 29th June 2007 - Bloody Weather!!

Originally planned for London but due to not feeling too well I wanted to stay close to home just in case things went tits up somewhat, people who know me will know what I mean!! So Eastleigh and the good ol' British summertime. Would you believe I got sunburnt, no I didnt either until I woke up the Saturday morning!

We start at Southampton Central with 66157 on the 6B45 Eastleigh Yard to Marchwood MOD service.

66702 Blue Lightning & 66704 Colchester Power Signalbox are stabled coupled together as a GBRf driver makes final checks around the pair of locos. These left with in about 30 minutes of me arriving at Eastleigh.

Recently named 66594 NYK Spirit of Kyoto sits waiting a crew change in platform 1 with the 4M55 Southampton Maritime - Lawley Street intermodal. I needed this loco as well.

NYK Spirit of Kyoto nameplate on 66594.

The second of 5 kops for locos for today was 66529 strangely coming out of the EWS TMD stabling point. It went straight through platform 3 and clagged its way onto the up fast. This photo is a milestone with me as it was the 6000th photo I have taken using my Sony R1 camera.

66104 with the 6Y24 Southampton Western Docks to Eastleigh Yard empty car flats.

66592 with 66501 Japan 2001 DIT pulls into platform 3 at Eastleigh for a crew change in charge of the 4O18 Lawley Street - Southampton Millbrook intermodal.

66171 draws into platform 3 to gain entry into the yard with an unknown intermodal service. This train left a few hours later as part of the 6M44 Eastleigh yard - Wembley Yard "enterprise" later in the day.

As part of bidding (some say they have already got the contract)for the MOD contract to Marchwood DRS participated in a series of route learners. The loco and crew traveled all the way from Stowmarket to Southampton Central by 37510 on June 26th. Its seen here with the "Goons" looking out of the windows as the tractor clags away from platform 1 with the return trip to Stowmarket.

Hellfire!!

One of the other reasons why I didn't goto London was because of the Weather. Here rain is lashing down in monsoon conditions on a 12 car Desiro. There was even steam coming from the Air conditioning unit on top... well I hope it was steam!!
