London 3rd November 2006(continued)

Continuing from Stratford I then went onto Harrow & Wealdstone in the afternoon. It warmed up a bit then towards sunset got cold. Some interesting workings happened around sunset as well.

350119 speeds through Harrow with a service for Northampton.

90044 speeds south through Harrow & Wealdstone with an unidentified intermodal service.

Not a very good shot i'm afraid but 66407 + 66409 speed through Harrow with the 0Z67 Willsden - Carlisle light engine move. These have been re-allocated to DRS's General Intermodal Pool, and quite possibly a damn good clean to boot.

Under Green signals Freightliner owned 90047 crawls through Harrow with an unidentified service whilst it makes up its mind on whether it is going to fail or not!!

Barely 5 minutes had past when brand new 66418+66416 were seen coming up the up slow with a railhead treatment train (sandite)

DRS owned 66418 + 66416 comes to stand on the up slow at Harrow due to the failing class 90 ( about 2 signal blocks up the line) struggling to get going. This was the 1J84 Willsden - Willsden Sandite working.

With the light fading fast I had to get as many shots as I could. 66416 at the back now has the daytime lights on as the driver has just got off the phone to the signal box and has been told to run wrong line back to Wembley, seeing as 90047 disgraced itself and failed!!.

The setting sun reflects off the rear cab of 66416. Also in plain view is the umbilical chord that enables communication with both locos and the control equipment on the wagons.

FEA 642029 with 3 water tanks on them. These tanks are fitted to the intermodal wagons like containers and can be replaced as and when.

FEA 642028 with the control equipment situated in the middle of the wagon.

The setting sun illuminates the rear cab of 66418.

92016 encapsulates the words of what EWS mean with its empty train of intermodal flats. Empty Wagon Service.

A near full Hunters moon rises above Harrow.
