Dorset Freight 2011

Welcome to the Dorset Freight page for 2011. For the fourth year running I will be logging all the movements of freight trains, rail tours, engineering trains, test and any other type of special train that passes through Poole either in the Weymouth or Bournemouth direction.
Alot of thanks has to go to Roger Smith & Justin Saunders Dorset Rail for their help with the data that I acquired over the last three years, and also to the people that I have neglected to mention that have helped in some way or other over the past few years.

At the end of each year the logs will be archived and be made available for download and view off line. These are situated on the left hand side of this page. There is or will be no charge for this whatsoever. All I ask is that if people use this information then please credit me or the website for using it. Thats it.

What's Changed?

A new PDF file has been made avaialble. This is called Lifetime Log, basicley it lists everything thats visited since January 1st 2008. Its available to download / view from the links on the left. The Engineers, Railtours/ECS and Test Trains Headcode section below have been removed, due to constraints in updating them. However the pdf files will be updated on a more regular basis even if the actual website has not been updated. I have added a regular booked Test Train list. This is mainly to list the Serco/Network Rail test trains that are more common around our neck of the woods. There has also been some slight cosmetic changes in layout which look better in my opinion

Important Note

From 2009 The Dorset Freight spreadsheet's are ONLY Open Office compatible only. This means they will not work with Microsoft works or office spreadsheet's. The spreadsheet for 2008 works with MS Works / Office. There was a brief explanation of why on the old page, but I wont be going into it here. So needless to say if you have Microsoft Office or works and want to see the spreadsheet. Then download Open Office, what are you waiting for its FREE. The link to the download is on the left. The latest version I am using is vr3.2.1 however there is a release candidate 8 available for an up coming vr 3.3.0 Please note I do tend to help out where I can but any email's regarding problems with the spreadsheet and Microsoft works / Office then they will be placed in the bin and you wont get a reply.

Freight Spreadsheet Updated to :- March 20th 2011

*NOTE:- The term units do not correspond to the everyday Desiro units that are on revenue earning runs. But mainly Network Rail / Southwest Trains Owned Departmental Units or for special moves.

Headcode Amendments

7O51 & 7V52 workings have been added into regular booked freight as from the start of the new working timetable these have been booked to run we think as extra service train. We believe its for the surfacing work for the Weymouth bypass, but are not 100% sure.

Notes

Where two or more locos are present in a working, the following terms are used.
66054 + 66519 This means the locos were coupled together or known as Double Header (the old school people will know).
66054 tnt 66519 This denotes that the locos were top and tail on the train. One attached to the front and one attached on the rear.
