Dorset Freight 2010
Welcome to the new look Dorset Freight 2010 page. For the third year running I will
be logging all the movements of freight trains, rail tours, engineering trains,
test and any other type of special train that passes through Poole either in the
Weymouth or Bournemouth direction.
Alot of thanks has to go to Roger Smith & Justin Saunders Dorset Rail
for their help with the data that I acquired over the last two years, and also to the people that I have neglected to mention that have helped in some way or other over the past two years.
At the end of each year the logs will be archived and be made available for download and view off line. There is or will be no charge for this whatsoever. All I ask is that if people use this information then please credit me or the website for using it. Thats it.
What's Changed?
Well the page layout for starters, using a pre existing template and the inclusion of a couple of areas where photos can be used at anytime as well as a number of indeterminate links to the left hand side of the screen. Also statistics from either the previous year or the current years logs can be made available on the left hand side.
With more detailed logging planned for 2010 at my end it is hoped to release more statistics for the end of 2010. There will also be links for the 2008 & 2009 archives (including 2009 statistics in pdf format) available to download as well as 2010's log's and pdf files and the link for Open Office. As well as the standard WTT (Working Timetable) Headcode's for the regular booked freight, I have also put headcode's for the various Network Rail Test Trains that we get (at Poole), on the spreadsheet as standard. So any freight or special workings will now be input after the Network Rail Headcodes.
Important Note
The Dorset Freight 2009 & 2010 Spreadsheet's are Open Office compatible only. This means they will not work with Microsoft works or office spreadsheet's. The spreadsheet for 2008 works with MS Works / Office. There was a brief explanation of why on the old page, but I wont be going into it here. So needless to say if you have Microsoft Office or works and want to see the spreadsheet. Then download Open Office, what are you waiting for its FREE. The link to the download is on the left. Please note I do tend to help out where I can but any email's regarding problems with the spreadsheet and Microsoft works / Office then they will be laughed and placed in the bin and you wont get a reply.
*NOTE:- The term units do not correspond to the everyday Desiro units that are on revenue earning runs. But mainly Network Rail / Southwest Trains Owned Departmental Units or for special moves.
Key
The Key to what the train workings are and the TOC's is listed below for your convenience.
Due to the nature of infrastructure trains the dates have had to be added at the end of the working as sometimes the train reporting number is used again.
See bottom of page for recent headcode amendments.

Headcode Amendments
7O51 & 7V52 workings have been added into regular booked freight as from the start of the new working timetable these have been booked to run we think as extra service train. We believe its for the surfacing work for the Weymouth bypass, but are not 100% sure.
Notes
Where two or more locos are present in a working, the following terms are used.
66054 + 66519 This means the locos were coupled together or known as Double Header (the old school people will know).
66054 tnt 66519 This denotes that the locos were top and tail on the train. One attached to the front and one attached on the rear.
* 0Z77 turning move from Swanage to Eastleigh to enable loco to be turned around the loop so it would be facing the correct way to take the head of a railtour on 30/05/10
** 5Z77 return of turning move to Swanage but also with part of Class 108 DMU (54504) after overhaul at Eastleigh works.
