Over the last few weeks signal posts have been appearing in this section of Eastleigh. This is due to a re-signalling of the Eastleigh - Fareham route.

170392 accelerates from Eastleigh with a service for Romsey.

66573 Departs Eastleigh with the 4M55 Southampton Maritime - Lawley Street Intermodal service.

Class 960 999700 & 999701 slowly pass Eastleigh on the down fast at about 30 mph with the 1Z98 09:23 Wilsdntc to Totton Yard. This went back via St Denys, Fareham and Portsmouth.

66118 with an Intermodal service to Wakefield Europort.

66164 with the 4053 Wakefield Europort to Southampton Western docks Intermodal service.

Super power at the head of the 6O41 Westbury yard to Eastleigh Departmental. 66's 017,049 & 198 haul just 2 loaded Seacows into Eastleigh yard.

A rather battered 66504 pulls away from a crew change on platform 1 with an unidentified Intermodal service.

59104 with the 7V07 Fareham - Merehead stone empties.


2 Pics of yet another week long Class 73 Driver training course. Also with unit 1497 was Blue Vep 3417 Gordon Pettitt.

66198, 049 & 017 retire to the EWS stabling point after depositing their 2 wagons in the yard. 017 and 049 were used on the weekend engineering works Between Sway and Christchurch.

153329 starts to peel off on the Romsey branch. This motorised coach returned about 30 minutes later.

66567 on the 4M61 Southampton Maritime - Trafford park intermodal service.

66176 on the 7V41 Eastleigh yard to Westbury Departmental.

This caught us somewhat by surprise. 66569 on a light engine move from the north, presumably to Southampton Maritime.

57005 on the 4O51 Wentloog - Southampton Millbrook intermodal services draws into platform 3 for a crew change.

66091 with the 6Y31 Holybourne - Fawley empty tanks.

66580 approaches Eastleigh with an unidentified working.

08664 reverse shunts a rather large rake of Salmon wagons after depositing the old track panels from them in the yard to the south.

The pioneer of the invasion of General Motors onto the UK's shores. 59001 comes off the Romsey branch with the 7O40 Merehead to Eastleigh FY terminal loaded stone. This locomotive is 20 years old... Twenty years since the first set of 59's came to the UK, I was fifteen... how time flies.
