Eastleigh 27th May 2005

Its been 5 months since I last visited Eastleigh, So I thought it was way overdue for another visit. Heres some of the 300 megs worth of pics I took. Literally a third of the pictures I took are on this page. Its the best lot of pictures I have taken to date from my personal opinion.

66703 Doncaster PSB 1981-2002 stands behind platform 3. 66714 is directly behind it.

66534 OOCL Express on the 4E44 09.01 Millbrook - Leeds arrives at platform 1 at Eastleigh for a crew change.

Another shot of 66534 on the 4E44.

66041 draws past platform 3 with new Desiro (Arkwright) 444045 in tow on the 7X53 09.04 Eastleigh Yard - Bournmouth T+RSMD move.

Not known for my art (honest!!!) But I thought this looked nice from here of 66703 + 66714.

A look Northwards gives us a view of the rear 66534 on the 4E44 to Leeds and 66515 on an unidentified working. at this point 66534 had been sat at the red signal for a good 20 minutes. It eventually moved after 45 minutes.

66515 passes underneath Bishopstoke Road bridge and prepares to go into Platform 3.

Refurbished 455 unit 455819 heads out onto the up fast with the @09.53 ZG - Selhurst

67012 + MerseyRail unit 507025 in tow waits for permission to leave with the 5X47 ZG - Birkenhead move.

Another shot of 66703+66714. These had been stabled here all week.

66579 draws into platform 1 for a crew change with the 4M55 10.00 Southampton Maritime - Lawley Street service.

Another shot of 66579 on the 4M44. This was a Kop for me.

An EWS driver walks by the side of 66177 to change ends for a light engine move to Fawley oil refinery.

66029 crosses over the up and down fast lines to the southern end of platform 3 for entry into Eastleigh Yard with the 4M71 Southampton western Docks - Foundry Lane EWS Intermodal service.

66577 waits for a green signal after its crew change on platform 3.

66577's Builders plate showing a date of manufacture of of February 2004.
Although you cant see it from the photo the loco's serial number is 20028462-17

Gatwick Express unit Class 460 #002 comes off of the depot and into platform 2. These have been nicknamed Darth Vader's due to the appearance to the Sith Lord.... I think they look more like a Platypus than Darth Vader!!!

Another shot of 66703+66714 The driver had just started 66703 up in preperation to move.

66703 draws past 66714 and 450097 as it goes to the southern end of Eastleigh's marshalling yard. This was presumably in readiness for an engineering train to be shunted onto it later on in the day. Unfortunately nothing materialized and it was still there when I left for home in the evening.

66517 accelerates away from platform 1 after a crew change crew change with an unknown working.

66714 Cromer Lifeboat on its own opposite platform 3.

57002 slows to come off the down fast for a crew change on platform 2.

66580 leaves platform 1 with an unknown working. Another loco I needed.

DRK81602 Balfour Beatty's 100 ton Kirow crane was in presence at Eastleigh due to major engineering work in the basingstoke area. This came as a surprise as I was aware the 75 ton crane was here but not the 100 ton crane.

DRP 81511 Balfour Beatty's Heavy duty crane being marshalled into the consit of the 75 ton Kirow crane.

Balfour Beatty's tool van VDA 210382 for use with the 75 ton Kirow Crane.
