Eastleigh January 4th 2006

First trip out of 2006 for me amid the freezing cold and yeah it was bloody cold. Hence some of the photos on this page are not that good (camera shake). Also in here is a pic from my trip to London on Friday January 6th, seeing as its was the only good pic I took then it will be put in here at the bottom of the page.

66579 slides into platform 3 at Southampton Central with an unidentified intermodal service for Southampton Maritime.

Southern liveried 377 unit 377460 sits in platform 3 after arriving on a service from London Victoria.

GB Railfreight's 66704 Colchester Power Box and 66711 languish at Eastleigh whilst awaiting there next turn of duty.

66167 shunts back a rake of HQA's and Network Rail JNA's. 66167 was Eastleigh's super shunter for the day.

66511 accelerates away from platform 1 with the Stone service from Soton Docks to Westbury.

66042 accelerates from platform 3 with a light engine movement to the yard from the depot.

66704's nameplate.

66540 slows for a stop and crew change at Eastleigh with an unidentified liner.

08664 waits for the shunter to climb on board to carry on with the rest of its duties.

66516 accelerates from a crew change at Eastleigh.

47841 hauls 2401 at speed through Eastleigh with the 5Z47 Poole Yard - Ilford unit move. This was the first of 24 planned moves over the next 18 months. The class 442's are undergoing a C6 overhaul which means The work that will take place will be full mechanical overhaul and external repaint; internally damaged seat covers and a full deep clean will take place. The overhaul is being paid for by Angel Trains, who are the leasing company that leases them to Southwest Trains. The 47 was sounding very ropey as it must have had a good 3 flat tyres as it came thudding through.

66192 has just cleared the yard exit with the rear of its consist on its way to Fawley oil refinery with empty TTA's.

57005 leaves platform 2 for Eastleigh's East yard. This will wait about 3 hours in the yard and then heads north.

66579 heads North again on an unidentified service.

59204 passes us at the top of platform 3 running light engine to the yard with 66704 in the background.

About 30 minutes later 59204 passes us with the Eastleigh - Westbury engineers.

66540 with 57004 DIT (Dead in Train/Tow) stops for the crew change on platform 1.

Close up of the cab ends of 57004 & 66540.

An evening shot of 66704 & 66711. These moved off a few hours after this shot was taken.

444002 on a Southampton - Winchester service sits waiting to leave at platform 1.

90016 passes Harrow & Wealdstone on a southbound liner on January 6th. A bonus shot unfortunately. I went to London (a planned trip) and due to the weather being much near freezing point than Tuesday and pretty much crap photos and bad light, the above shot was really the only best shot I had from the trip, so thats why its ended up here.
